As I have said before, I'm no longer in a big truck - but in a way they're still in me. I like to keep up - I think one of the reasons I now dread going to the grocery store is that the prices (outrageous) must be related to getting product to the shelf. I'm curious about something...fuel surcharges. I know many O/Os are hurting or worse, and the entire industry seems to be wailing over the rapid increase in fuel prices. Though I don't know what it is, I've heard there is some sort of 'formula' for calculating fuel surcharges. Are some companies not charging them...and if so, why not? And if not, how on Earth are they able to keep on truckin'? Are the fuel surcharges being charged not covering the increase in fuel costs? Am I missing something here?
